Also this membership does not cover significant Government research work or consultancy work that the TA will sometimes tender for.

The above represents the benefits available directly to members, however much of our work is aimed at supporting the whole sector. Below is a list of some of the ways in which our organisation works to support the whole industry.

Network Benefits:

As a member of Electronics Scotland you are participating in an active Network that seeks to promote the interests of our sector and enhance the opportunities for Electronics companies to thrive. Below are some of the ways that this network is working on behalf of the whole community;

EPGS Engineering Policy Group Scotland at the IET. We have a seat on the EPGS committee which works to advise the Scottish parliament on significant issues surrounding the technology sector in Scotland. This is an important voice to keep ministers in tune with our industry.
TTOM Member of the Technology Transfer Opportunity Mechanism grant panel. This panel approves TTOM grant applications where SME’s can get small scale research work done in Universities. This work supports the growth of new Technology SME’s and we can help focus university research into relevant commercial applications.
SUPA KT Scottish Universities Physics Associations Knowledge Transfer advisory panel. SUPA works to promote and commercialise university research and covers all of our major Scottish institutions. Through this panel, the needs of our community are represented as we work to influence the direction of research and connect industry with academia.
EKTN The Electronics Knowledge Transfer Network. We are the regional partner for this UK wide industry body that connects our network with the whole of the UK. Our members benefit from privileged access the EKTN where you can search FUNDMAP for details of all UK and European funding mechanisms. You can access the capability directory which lists all UK Electronics Companies and is a valuable tool to find suppliers and customers. You can post technical offerings or requests onto the website or take part in a UK wide special interest group (SIG) a network within networks for specialise areas such as medical electronics.
UKEA UK Electronics Alliance. Electronics Scotland are founding members of the UKEA, a nationwide representative body which has monthly meeting with the UK government (BIS) and European parliament to promote our interests. Through the UKEA we can influence spending in our sector and get to the heart of government thinking, particularly in areas such as the Technology Strategy Board.
SDI Scottish Development International. We are in regular contact with SDI, encouraging them to continue to recognise our electronics industry as an opportunity for growth and not simply a legacy of former glory. We are currently working with them to re-write their publicity documents for the electronics sector. We also advise our members when inward investment companies are looking for supply chain partners.
SE Scottish Enterprise. We are in regular contact with SE to give advice on policy development and we have been contracted directly to carry out industry research and policy consultation. Through this work we remind SE of the huge value to the economy and the potential for growth.
ERG Electronics Regulatory Group. The ERG is the UK body that works with the European Union on regulations that effect our industry such as ROHS and WEE. This is where we can work to influence regulation development and advise government on adoption. Currently a lot of preparatory work is being undertaken to direct the development of policy to counteract counterfeit electronic components.

All of the above work needs doing and is not funded. If we (the industry) don’t do it, no one will.

All electronics companies will benefit from this activity as we work on behalf of the whole industry. We keep our fees as low as possible, however the more money we have, the more work we can do.

We look forward to you joining our network.
